THE CLINIQUE TURIN, THE FIRST PRIVATE HOSPITAL IN THE PARIS REGION TO USE THE NEW DA VINCI XI SURGICAL ROBOT
Doctor Olivier DUMONCEAU, urological surgeon at the Clinique TURIN in Paris, has performed the very first prostatectomy operation in a private centre in the Paris region using the new da Vinci Xi robot. This new generation of the da Vinci robotic surgical system enables even more precise procedures to be carried out, for the safety of patients and to achieve better results.
Surgeons benefit from improved 3D vision and much greater precision of movement on this new generation of surgical robot.
Dr Olivier DUMONCEAU commented: "This new generation of surgical robot marks a further step forward in technology for the benefit of both patient and surgeon. Our actions are even safer, and patients can benefit from more precise surgery. We are now developing robotic outpatient surgery for operations that previously required several days' hospitalisation. The patient recovers more quickly and can leave quickly and safely.
Dr Perrine GOYER, digestive surgeon, added: "Robotic surgery now offers the possibility of minimally invasive surgery in new areas such as obesity surgery and digestive oncology for the most complex cases".
Dr Ludovic FRIEDERICH, a gynaecological surgeon, adds: "With this latest generation of machine, robotic surgery is opening up new prospects for the treatment of endometriosis in very short stays, with shorter postoperative recovery times. In particular, we are seeing a reduction in post-operative pain.
"Our development towards minimally invasive surgery and reduced length of stay is strategic. Replacing our previous robot with this new technology is a huge step forward. The scope of operations has now been extended to include pathologies as diverse as prostatectomy, endometriosis and digestive surgery, with even better results. Treatment can be carried out on an outpatient basis without compromising on quality," explains Stéphane LIEVAIN, Director of the TURIN clinic.
